Heat add UCLA Pitcher to 2017 Summer Roster
Chico, CA: The Chico Heat have announced that pitcher Jack Ralston, from UCLA will join the Heat for the 2017 summer season. Ralston, from Newhall, CA is in his first year with the Bruins. Ralston is the second UCLA Bruin to commit to the Heat for 2017, joining catcher Gavin Johns.
Played for the La Crosse Loggers in the Northwoods League for the second season … went 3-2 with a 6.40 ERA in 12 games (four starts) … threw one complete game … finished the summer with 19 strikeouts and 19 walks in 32.1 innings … La Crosse compiled a 38-33 overall record.
Played for the La Crosse Loggers in the Northwoods League … made 11 appearances (two starts) … posted a 1-1 record with a 5.59 ERA over 27.1 innings pitched … struck out 27 batters, while conceding 16 walks … struck out six batters twice and allowed zero earned runs in six of 11 appearances … helped lead La Crosse to a 40-31 overall record and a fourth place finish in the Northwoods League South Division.
Three-year varsity baseball letter-winner at Hart High School (Newhall, Calif.) under head coach Jim Ozella … 2015 LA Daily News All-Area Player of the Year … 2015 MaxPreps first team All-State selection … All-CIF-Southern Section first team selection … 2015 Santa Clarita Valley Signal All-Area first team selection … 2015 Perfect Game USA California Region honorable mention All-American … 2015 and 2014 All-Foothill League first team selection … as a senior at Hart HS, went 7-3 with a 2.06 ERA over 13 appearances (12 starts), while leading his team to the CIF-SS Division I championship game … struck out 72 batters in 78.1 innings pitched … as a junior, posted a 7-0 record with a 1.29 ERA in 54 innings, while leading his team to the CIF-SS Division I playoffs … as a sophomore, struck out 20 batters over 11 appearances.
Born in Panorama City, Calif. … parents are Jeffrey and Julie Ralston … lists his hobbies outside of baseball as fishing, skeet shooting, playing golf and frisbee golf and playing video games … undeclared major.
